The Old Stand
Bar: Est.1837 Old world bar with large cobblestone beer garden with a large range of colourful flowers and plants making it a peaceful haven for the drinker and smoker. Extensive collection of bar memorabilia, original mirrors, collection of old bar jars and bottles; large portraits of Eamon de Valera and Michael Collins; sporting memorabilia including rugby jerseys by Jona Lomu and Sean Fitzpatrick. Sporting pub with multiple T.Vs. Old cigarette enamel signs and posters of old railway timetables. About us:
Old coach pub with facilities for stabling horses and carriages through the archway to the rear of pub. During the civil war General Sean Mac Eoin was shot and wounded near the railway station in Mullingar. He took refuge in the Old Stand where he was arrested by the Free State Army. The present owners The Walsh Family have owned and managed the Public House and Off-license for over 30 years.
